HGV 1 General Haulage Day Driver
Description:
We are currently seeking a reliable and experienced HGV 1 Day Driver to join our team in general haulage. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for delivering goods to various locations in a safe and timely manner. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safe driving practices, excellent customer service skills, and a commitment to maintaining company standards.
The hours of work are as required by the needs of the business, Monday to Friday, UK wide having regard for the restrictions on drivers’ hours as laid down by the Road Traffic Acts and the Working Time Regulations.
The salary for this position is made up as below;
Basic £36,554
Overtime £15hr after 50hrs
Bonuses potential upto £4400pa
Hours of Work: MONDAY TO FRIDAY
Duration: Permanent
Duties will include but are not limited too;
Safely operate a Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) 1 vehicle for general haulage, transporting goods to various locations.
Ensure all deliveries are made on time and in accordance with customer requirements.
Perform daily vehicle checks to ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Complete all relevant paperwork, including delivery notes and vehicle inspection reports.
Maintain communication with the transport team regarding delivery progress and any potential delays.
Ensure compliance with traffic laws, company policies, and road safety standards at all times.
Loading and unloading goods where required, ensuring safe handling and securing of cargo.
Follow routes and instructions provided by the transport coordinator, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency and time management.
Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients and customers during deliveries.
Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Desired Skills, Required Skills and Abilities:
Valid UK HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence.
Digital Tachograph card and CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) qualification.
Previous experience in general haulage or similar driving roles is preferred.
Good understanding of road safety regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Flexibility with working hours to accommodate varying delivery schedules.
A clean driving record (with no more than 6 penalty points on the licence).
Physically fit to undertake the manual handling of goods when required.
